What a Mess!

So it looks like we have a major financial crises facing us and congress is now in a shoot-out over just what to do. McCain rides into town using this as an excuse not to face Obama tonight(maybe/maybe not) and not wanting to upset the conservative base he is seemingly siding with. What happened to his claim of leading in "crossing the isle" to reach compromise on critical issues. Isn't the presidential race something above the issues of the day and focused on what the candidates are supposed to do if and when elected? Isn't tonight's debate a great opportunity to reach an estimated 100 million people and build support for their plans to resolve this and other major challenges facing the country? And as to "Sarah Barracuda", is there any truth to the rumor that McCain is thinking of dropping her from the ticket given her radically dropping numbers? These are not meant to rhetorical questions, so please get back to with your views/answers.
